for May, 2005

Thinking of you all this month as life springs forward again, as days get longer and brighter with hope for accomplishing great things for ourselves and for our loved ones.

But with such expectations, how do we exist in the present moment, as fully as we can? We may feel overloaded, with the feeling that many things are falling through the cracks.

One of the nice things about the Collaboratives is that they provide a safe haven for people who need to not only braindump, but share stories about how things fall through the cracks and then make the best of the new situation with the stuff of the moment that remains, that didn't fall through.

I think that this is the essence of what coaching is all about, a kind of mindfulness of the reality of the moment, that rather than being upset or deterred or despairing, we can accept the moment for what it is. Coaching and the Collaboratives helps us to have honest conversations with each other, and sometimes the deep qualities of listening really evoke people's best levels of intelligence.

So, I'm hoping that when people come to Collaborative meetings or call me on the phone, that they'll enter into a state of creative response. And that response may trigger new positive momenta as they go from one moment to the next. And that may just be the thing that fills the cracks so that stuff doesn't fall through so easily.

Let's see each other soon and fill the intermediate moments with the Hope of May: that we may, that we will, that we are able.

May you find delight, Rob

  • Job Opportunities

As you might well know, my assistant Sarah Wood has left to start her own business in the field of Professional Organization. You can contact Sarah to wish her well. John Hoar has taken over publishing this newsletter, maintaining www.robkanzer.com, and keeping Rob and his computer on friendly terms. Please feel free to say hello or to offer any ideas to the new guy.

The following job opportunities still exist: (Please feel free to network and pass along to a friend if you know somebody who might like either of these positions).

Personal Assistant (light housecleaning and errands) needed 2-4/flex hours/week in York, Maine (70 miles north of Boston).

Office Administrator 6-8/flex hours/week. Looking for a highly organized and efficient person who is familiar with Word & Outlook, and has strong verbal and writing skills. The ideal person would have an interest in the field of Life and Business Coaching. We are willing to train a motivated individual who may lack more advanced computer skills.

    Quote of the Month:
You can't make the time. You have to take the time.

    Len Kanzer

Len was my father and July 30 marks the second anniversary of his passing. As Father's Day approaches, I am mindful of him and I want to celebrate the time he took for me.

And I beckon you to think forward to Father's Day as it approaches and think of the legacy your father left for you. How can you celebrate that legacy today?
