Welcome to June's newsletter and to a new month's hope of
abundant growth. Summer's solstice is on the horizon and with it
comes the promise of bright sun and just enough rain to keep things
growing. I hope you are feeling the hope and promise of our warm
days ahead.
In this spirit of positive outlook, where we as coaches wish to
bring forward the best of possibilities, we extend to all an
invitation to a free and open meeting of the Portsmouth Coaching
Collaborative on Thursday June 23, from 6-9 pm.
We will be gathering together on the grass of Portsmouth's
Langdon Park adjacent to the South Mill Pond
Recreation area for a potluck dinner and community information
session where anyone with a genuine interest in community-building,
personal and professional development and happiness can share their
experiences, ask questions about coaching, or just plain relax on a
splendid summer evening.
So, bring yourself, your best dish and favorite non-alcoholic
beverage, your family, your friends, come one, come all, come with
shoes or bare feet. We would be delighted to see you all. Together.
Until then, may June's heat and light grow deep inside you,
Rob

Rob Returns to Lopez Island July 2 |
|
I will be visiting my home away from home on Lopez Island, Washington
from July 2 to July 9, offering free workshops in Contactful
Compassionate Communication which will include my own interpretation of
Marshall Rosenberg's Non-Violent Communication method.
To these workshops I will bring my 23 years of experience as a life and
business coach. I enjoy sharing a wide a variety of things I've learned
about how to use tone of voice, cadence, posture, language and role
playing to help people solve problems and work together more effectively
and love each other more deeply.
If this is something you'd like as a participant and/or "sponsor" (we
need times and places to meet) please let me know.

Heat and Light, revisited |
|
A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing,
the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.
--James Dent
In the business world, executives and their teams often talk about
change of management - buy a new lawnmower if the old one breaks.
But in the world of personal development and compassionate self-care, we
hear a lot about keeping a balance of life - put the lawnmower in the
shed for a day or so.
In this oncoming season, as the height of heat and light are upon us,
I'm wondering: how can we use our own individual heat - not in heated
arguments with one another, but in the warmth and glow in our hearts to
nurture one another. In the strong light of summer, how can we avoid
being burned by the sun, but still acquire its beneficial qualities?
The PCC picnic on June 23 is our summer ode to all who seek to know
their own heat and light and to connect with the heat and light of
others.
But then again, if it gets too hot and too bright, we'll have the breeze
in the leaves and the shade of the trees to cool us down. And ice in the
cooler, cold drinks, and cool friendships.
