The Cambridge and Portsmouth
Coaching Collaboratives

January 2006

Continuing in our 25th year of service to the spirit of Clear and Compassionate Communication and Skill Building for Business and Personal Growth.

It's Hi time again. And a New Year. How are you?

Happy you are, I hope. As a Life and Business Coach, my most ardent desire is to help others find a way to create their own happy and healthy life. In fact it is the purpose of my life. Like the air that I breathe, this way of living is always with me.

As a coach, I listen to your words and I breathe with your experience. Are you holding your breath? I encourage you to let it out and fill your lungs with fresh air. Inhale, exhale, repeat as necessary. As partners in our coaching sessions, we breathe together, invigorated with the awareness of our being alive as Co-creators.

As I come ever closer to the birthday celebrating my 50th year on the planet, I realize I have so much to be grateful for. Lately I've been dreaming of a party where I can express my gratitude to my friends, family and teachers. I want you all to join me.

The party begins today and goes until whenever. Let's work together, play together and create with one another the best of all possible worlds. For the next 50 years, at least.

This Month's $50 Free Tip:

Leveraging the Negative

In the earlier years of my coaching practice, I used to insist that people only speak in the positive voice. After all if we think and speak and phrase things in the positive, we're more likely to get what we want. But lately I've come to understand that some people, sometimes get energized by opposing the positive aspect.

"I'm not going to do that"
"You're not the boss of me"
"I'm so stupid"
"I don't see myself ever being rich"

This is where an essential aspect of coaching may come into play. I do not speak. I listen, and allow the "tension to make itself known".

Sometimes when a person hears how insistent they are in demanding the negative rule, they see how they are "being their own worst enemy' and shift out into a more productive posture.

"I'm going to take these next steps."
"You've helped me consider some of my options."
"I'm new to this and learning a lot"
"I am open to the possibility of living happily and abundantly."

I like to call this a Polar Flip or Boomerang Present - the antithesis of an idea as a way of catapulting forward.

And - sometimes the negative "stays negative" and we feel stuck: we can call this the Polar Flop or Boo Rang Peasant.

Whatever we call it, it's important to notice how we think and work. Do you sense the distinctions in your own thinking and speaking?

Is there a way in which you are so clear about what you don't want that it accelerates you in the exact direction you do want to go? Yes? Good.

You have successfully Leveraged the Negative. And that's Positive.

Tick, Tock...

So, I'm not 49 any more - I'm still irrepressible, irreverant, and er ... irresponsible , young at heart.

I take Glucomsamine Chondroitin, Multivitamins, Kaprex, MSM and often forget what they do. I often find a mess in my car or in my home.

I am grateful for small fortunes:

I have not yet put toothpaste in my hair while showering nor I have I enclosed any utility payment checks in birthday cards I have mailed to loved ones.

The voice inside the man at 50 reminds me to ask, "how shall I live with integrity today and how can I continue to serve as an inspiration to others?"

Smile.

Volunteer time with my cousin Mark who has muscular dystrophy.

Be engaged in safe and magnificent conversations with you.

Rob Kanzer,
"forty something"

So, I'm sitting at home thinking ... "What would it be like to have a free place to stay and make new friends ...?"

I enter my dreamy state with a gentle encouragement from my newly-discovered Silva UltraMind Training program

And soon I am excited and intrigued by a fortuitous occurence (UltraMind calls it "coincidence" resulting from my "Alpha State")

(I am planning for my February 6-8 Private Coaching offerings and Free Seminars in Naples and
Marco Island Florida.)

My plans to have a certain someone join me there fell through and not really enjoying the prospect of paying $300 a day for a lonely hotel room, I decided to call realtors in search of a home /apt/condo rental for a more reasonable fee.

On my first call I told my situation to Marco Island realtor Tegan DeClark, and she referred me to her mother Bronwyn Jones who instantly offered me a room in her home and a ride from the airport. Now, I am a man of words but I am speechless now, and Bronwyn tells me she sees my smile on Rob Kanzer Seminars!, that she is a clairvoyant and she does this all the time.

In one supercharged, Ultra-minded moment, I have become part of a whole new world of hospitality called the Homelink Exchange International. Out of the mainstream but so vital and full of goodwill, a community of open- minded and encouraging people who support each other through sharing and friendship. Sound familiar?

The Portsmouth and Cambridge Coaching Collaboratives are not-for-profit learning groups, communities of open minded and encouraging people who support each other through skill building, education, and knowledge sharing. We are informal, providing opportunities for you to interact with new and experienced coaches to foster new ideas, form strategic alliances, enhance coaching skills and develop new friendships.
